I’m not saying Infiniti is doing bad... Their reliability has gone down significantly but the cars and engines they make are wonderful!
These are great looking! AND they’re fast! So what did Nissan do? Nothing. That’s the problem. Everyone forgets that Infiniti is doing great because Nissan has not updated the Z car in a decade, the GTR in as much if not more, and has let their brand just disintegrate except the Rogue(my most hated car). The stupid names that made me go to Infinitis website to figure out don’t help either.

not to mention the way a lot of owners drive their new infinitis is anything but appealing

I’ve never noticed the Infinitis giving me trouble but the Rogues are on something. It’s like everyone’s stereotype about the Prius came true with the Rogue, but then the Rogue also has the bonus of being taller which means the high beams are even worse!

can’t see this comment, there’s some nissan rogue driver with his highbeams on that’s shining through my window

The thing is, outside of the updated styling, the turbo motors, and the not good (but thankfully optional) steer-by-wire, the Q50 and Q60 are still very much the same as the G37 underneath.
Most of the rest of the Infiniti lineup is similarly stale.
Q70 - 2011
QX30 - 2017 but it’s a platform share of the Mercedes GLA
QX50 - finally being redone for 2019 but the current one came out in 2008
QX60 - 2013
QX70 - 2009
QX80 - 2011

My only beef with Infiniti is that 10 years ago, I saw beautiful G35/37 and M35/37 almost everywhere.
Today I see nothing but the big QX and the Pathfinder-based one.
I get it, sedans are dying, but instead of toning down the styling on the bigger vehicles (which IMO is an aesthetic necessity, sort of like how I can’t wear bright shoes in size 14), they’re getting more obnoxious.
Their cars all look like rolling Douchemobiles now.

To be fair the infiniti version cameout one year before the pathfinder version. so the pathfinder is more infiniti based....
that being said I still call them the fancy pathfinder.

I thought that was true of all CUV drivers...

I really want to want a Q50/60, but all the used ones I find, even with ~25k miles, are trashed inside. Finish rubbed off of the steering wheel and plastic bits, leather wrinkled to hell or discolored, outside paint chipped like it was driven exclusively in West Texas winds. I don’t know if that’s the way Infinitis are *made* or the way they’re *driven*, but it’s not a real confidence booster.

Probably made sadly... Late 2000s were the last of the good ones.

The way Nissan has gone makes me thankful my family sold the dealership almost 15 years ago now.

Rogues are the worst offenders by far here.

Do you all own any other dealers or just that one?

My problem with their sedans/coupes was that they fixed some things that were badly needed in the Gs- Better fuel efficiency, more low end torque, ancient infotainment system by introducing the excellent 3.0T, updated styling and interiors, and an upgraded system, BUT that shit was always breaking and the two screen layout was un-intuitive- It is the main source of reliability problems in the Q50 2014 on. Also introducing DAS Steer by Wire ruined the sporty experience for many.
Solution: Give us a damn single screen with touch and controller with Apple Carplay/Android Auto, Banish DAS to the depths of hell.
But you know what? The new Qx50 is going to sell like hotcakes and Nissan is not going to give a shit.

They’re one of the few brands that haven’t jumped on board with the “add creases and angles everywhere” and “make the grill as big and odd looking as possible” design cues. Still very understated design-wise, and I love them for it.
This thing is ugly as sin though...

Oh no just the one Nissan dealership. At one time we were the oldest dealer in Texas under original ownership and to hear some of the stories about the early days of Japanese imports in very interesting stuff to be honest.
They did have a BMW dealership for a time in the mid 70’s but bmw pissed off my grandparents with they way they treated them as franchisees to the point they told them to come get their crap and leave. Bad decision in retrospect.
